IBCF is the national body responsible for the structure, standards and growth of beach cricket in India — the sand format played by the sea.
Our Mandate
One national structure for the sand format
The federation exists to give beach cricket in India a single, credible framework: recognised playing conditions, an affiliation register of state beach cricket associations, a sanctioned national calendar, and transparent selection into national beach cricket squads.
IBCF works with coastal communities, clubs and state bodies so that a player competing on a district beach can progress, on merit, to a national championship played on the same surface under the same rules.
Playing Conditions
IBCF beach cricket standards
- Format
- 6, 8 or 10 overs a side depending on the competition category
- Surface
- Level natural sand pitch marked within a beach playing arena
- Squad
- Playing eight with rolling substitutes for heat management
- Ball
- Approved soft/tape beach cricket ball specifications
- Footwear
- Barefoot or approved sand footwear as per venue conditions
- Boundaries
- Rope or flag boundary set by the match referee to tide and wind
Development
From coastal grassroots to national squads
- District beach cricket: open sand-format competitions run by affiliated state associations.
- State championships: qualification events feeding the national beach cricket championship.
- National camps: conditioning and skills camps focused on barefoot movement, sand fielding and wind-affected bowling.
- Officials & coaching: accreditation programmes for beach cricket umpires, scorers and coaches.
